Product Review Website Features Accessible Product Reviews Written by PWDs, Seniors and Caregivers
You can find high-quality, detailed product reviews for just about anything – except, perhaps, accessible products targeted at the disability community. The website Reviewed seeks to change that.
The disability community has long been forced to rely on word-of-mouth recommendations, or worse, trial-and-error experiments to achieve that which many people take for granted: mobility, independence, and dignity.
In response to this, Reviewed is working to add new product reviews “led, edited, and written by people who are actually living with these challenges: disabled writers, aging-in-place experts, caregivers, and seniors.” Reviewed recognizes these as the “true experts” and says that “their input is what will make our coverage most useful to the community we aim to serve.”

Hands Down! 14 Beauty Products for People Who Can Only Use One Hand
After a car accident that left her left arm paralyzed, Chloe Toscano began searching for beauty products that would make it easier for people like her who have the use of only one hand. She recently published a list of 14 such products in Allure, which she says “get an A in the accessible-design department.”
One of the products Chloe highlighted is the Tiy Pro Customizable Elastic Hair Tie, which allows her to easily put her hair in a bun or in a ponytail with one hand. She wrote, “Relearning how to tie my hair with one arm was my biggest beauty challenge after my accident. When I finally got it, I realized I could only do it with ties that were already stretched out. But Tiy has created the first customizable hair tie, so no matter what size, length, or tension works best for you, you can have it.”
The ease of use of this and the other accessible products she’s identified extends to every user – not just those with disabilities. Beauty should be accessible to all, and the innovation in the industry is bringing it to more people each day.
To check out Chloe’s full list of 14 accessible beauty products, see her article in Allure.
Revolve Air Wheelchair Promises to Be A Game Changer
Two of the most often-reported frustrations about air travel with a disability are delays in receiving wheelchair assistance and damage to personal wheelchairs.
Italian designer and inventor Andrea Mocellin hopes to remove those pain points with his latest invention, a new wheelchair called Revolve Air. What sets the Revolve Air apart from other manual wheelchairs is its small size and portability – the chair’s folding wheels allow it to collapse into a small form factor that can be stowed in an airplane’s overhead bin.
The chair has the same 24-inch wheels as most manual wheelchairs, meaning that it can still propelled easily by the user, but the innovative design allows the chair to be condensed down into a size that is 60% more space-saving than other folding wheelchairs on the market.
Revolve Air was the winner of the Audience Award at TravelAbility’s LaunchPad held on April 1, 2021. To learn more about the Revolve Air wheelchair, see this article from NewzHook.
